Q & A _The Mirror Project

The Mirror Project Q&A

Q: What's up with the 11 and 111 thing?
A:  I don't know, they're numbers that resonate with me, so I adopted them :).  Don't make me get all woo-woo on you... we'll just go with, I like the numbers.
Each Phase of The Mirror Project has 111 images.  Each numbered and signed Limited edition (of each of those 111 images in each Phase), is an edition of 11.

Q:  Do Limited Editions cost more?
A:  They do.

  1. They are the larger prints so "cost more" is inherent in that. Rule of thumb if it's over 600 sq inches [width x height = sq inches], it is Limited Edition sizing and not available in the Open Edition art prints.
  2. There are only 11 of them.  Ever.  If you are the joyous owner of  x/11 of The Mirror Project, you have one of only eleven large prints. Ever.
  3. They are signed and numbered on the lower right front, and signed, numbered, and titled on the label on the back, including location of source image.
  4. Each is recorded and comes with a Limited Edition authentication folder, which includes full information on your individual piece, plus source image, Series, and Artist.
  5. They require much more time and care.  You order from me; I optimize the file to the size you request; I order from printer, printer ships to me; I unpackage, sign, number, build Edition package and label; repackage all; and ship to you.

Q: So if the Limited Edition of 11 is sold out, I can't buy a huge print?  Are you an idiot?
A:
Probably. (I seem to remember having acknowledged that on multiple occasions.)  I'm just really attached to 11s.

  1. A2: On the other hand, I promise that if you want to make an above-market purchase, I will forward it to the 11 collectors. and if you make them an offer they can't refuse, I will not stand in the way of a free market. (See "Probably" above.
  2. A3: So if you love it, buy it now. ;-p

Q:  How do I know if my print is a Limited Edition or an Open Edition?
A:  Limited Editions are signed and numbered on the lower right front; signed and numbered with title and source information on the back; and they come direct from me with a full documentation package.  Open Editions are your choice of size, medium, and finish; are unsigned; and will be shipped direct from Bay Photo to you.

Q:  So I can't have a smaller print from the Open Edition signed?
A:  Of course you can.  Contact me or order from the In Studio category.  Every Open Edition piece there is physically in my studio in Troutdale, Oregon, and already produced and signed on the lower left.  You can pick it up or have it shipped.
